DDS Interoperability Demo with Six Vendors on AWS
In a recent demonstration effort, Crucible automated the build and deployment of a DDS interoperability testbed featuring:
- RTI, OpenDDS, Eprosima, S2E, Twin Oaks, Kongsberg
- A custom RHEL 9 base image
- Custom deployment of Shape Demo GUIs and RTPS binaries
- Multicast-enabled VPC configuration on AWS
- Image cache acceleration, allowing spin-up in minutes instead of hours
Identified Issues
Thanks to Crucible’s traceability and logging we rapidly diagnosed and documented:
- Inconsistent discovery ports across vendors
- GUI compatibility mismatches
DDS Interoperability Shapes Demo From Cached Images (~10 min, No Audio)
In-depth Full Build (from scratch) DDS Interoperability Shapes Demo (~35 min)
Future-Proofing DDS Demonstrations
With Crucible, the same demo framework can be extended to support:
Additional Operating Systems (Ubuntu, Windows)
Kubernetes-based orchestration of DDS nodes
Distributed test frameworks using Ansible
Automated compliance scanning for ATO readiness
Deployment into classified air-gapped enclaves
This extensibility ensures that DDS vendors and program stakeholders can iterate rapidly, collaborate securely, and scale consistently, no matter the cloud or network domain.
